About SB 1480
SB 1480 would require nuisance wildlife trappers and pest control companies to tell their clients, verbally and in writing, that the animals that they have trapped will be killed.
It would also outlaw the most heinous forms of killing - drowning, injection with antifreeze and 'chest compression,' which means crushing the animal to death.
In addition, the bill would require that trappers diligently search for signs of babies at any site they are called to. They would then have to tell the homeowners about the babies and suggest alternative methods to keep the family together.
This could have huge impact for wildlife, and for organizations like WildCare that treat the orphaned babies left stranded by unscrupulous trapping methods. So many of our youngest and neediest patients come from houses where the mother has been trapped and "removed." Think how much further WildCare's resources could stretch if we did not have to raise so many unnecessarily orphaned babies, and if people knew the true facts about these so-called "humane" trappers?
This is the final step, what we have been working for for all these months.
With a single swipe of his pen, the Governor can undo all of our work - or save thousands of our animals a year. Please, please help us in this final push!
